据外媒报道，西日本铁路公司（JR西日本）宣布，将开发以氢燃料电池为主要电源的列车，力争本世纪三十年代在柴油车行驶的地方路线引进。开发同类氢燃料列车是继JR东日本“云雀”之后的国内第二例。JR西日本还将在车站附近设置氢气站等完善供应体制，为实现去碳化社会扩大氢燃料利用。据了解，JR西日本拥有约450辆柴油列车。由于2030年起很多列车需要更新换代，更换列车时如何兼顾降低环境负担成为课题。
