5月29日，东映动画公布了原创动画新作《Girls Band Cry》的MV，主视觉图、声优及制作阵容等信息也随之公开。
《Girls Band Cry》的主角是辍学后独自在东京工作、想考大学的井芹仁菜，她遇到了在郊外车站前唱歌的河原木桃香，被音乐的力量触动，两人与隐藏自己真实感情的安和すばる、被父母抛弃的海老冢智、孑然一身的Rupa组成了乐队，故事就此展开。五人的声优由活动“Girl’s Rock Audition” 上选拔而来，该活动由agehasprings主办，环球音乐和东映动画协办。
5月29日公开的MV为《名もなき何もかも》和《偽りの理》，由sakiyama负责插图，MONO-Devoid负责视频制作，两首歌曲已上架各大音乐平台。另外，《Girls Band Cry》在6月26日、7月24日还会公布新的MV，首张CD将在7月26日发售，第2张CD将在8月30日推出。
