瑞典游戏公司 Embracer Group 在去年出人意料地收购了《指环王》和《霍比特人》等“中土世界” IP 的版权。近日根据 Embracer 公司年报透露，Embracer 以 42 亿瑞典克朗（约合3.95亿美元）的价格从 Saul Zaentz 公司购买了这些版权。
在去年交易宣布时，Embracer 和 Saul Zaentz 都没有公布交易的具体价格。而根据外媒 Variety 报道，这些版权（包括电影、电子游戏、桌游、周边商品、主题公园和舞台制作）估值高达 20 亿美元。相比之下，亚马逊仅为了《指环王：力量之戒》这部剧就支付了 2.5 亿美元来购买改编权。
在 Embracer 买下版权后，亚马逊还与 Embracer 达成协议，开发并发行一款基于《指环王》的全新大型多人在线游戏。Embracer 还在公司年报中承诺将在未来二十年推出基于托尔金宇宙的“几款世界级产品”，同时基于其他媒介的改编也在进行中。今年二月份，Embracer 还透露它已经与新线影业和华纳兄弟影业公司达成了一项多年协议，“协议涵盖基于托尔金作品的“多部故事片”。
