本次任务代号为 Galactic 02，发射任务将会在新墨西哥州的美国航天港进行。此次飞行的乘客中包括80岁高龄的前奥运选手Jon Goodwin，他曾在1972年的慕尼黑夏季奥运会上参与皮划艇比赛。此外乘客中还有一对来自加勒比海岛国的母女。乘客中还包括3名维珍银河的员工，他们将负责指挥和驾驶飞船。
维珍银河飞船首次商业太空飞行 6 月 29 日结束，在自主飞行近 14 分钟后安全返回，并成功着陆在美国太空港跑道上。
