东日本旅客铁道公司（East Japan Railway Company）以及 Pasmo Co. 在 8 月 2 日宣布，因应晶片短缺问题将停售 Suica 和 Pasmo 卡。
Suica 和 Pasmo 这类可充值电子货币卡，早已成为在日本生活、旅行中不可或缺的存在，其用途已不侷限于搭乘大众交通运输工具，而是成为一种便捷的支付方式。
东日本旅客铁道公司和 Pasmo Co. 早在 6 月时就宣布，将暂停贩售「不记名」的 Suica、 Pasmo 卡，如今因为晶片持续短缺，导致「记名」的 Suica 和 Pasmo 卡也将停卖；若外国游客到东京游玩时想买实体卡片，官方则提供限期 28 天的「PASMO PASSPORT」和「Welcome Suica」，需要注意的是「Welcome Suica」每人限买 1 张，购买地区也有所限制，未来可能也会面临晶片短缺的问题。
除了购买「Welcome Suica」外，使用 iPhone 的旅日游客，只需打开内建的「钱包」APP，选择「交通卡」并在「日本」分类中找到「Suica」、「Pasmo」与「Icoca」3 个选项，就能依照个人所需决定要使用哪张卡；不过，Android 手机用户目前无法使用如此方便的功能。
